SCENT + THE HUMAN MEMORY
LIMBIC SYSTEM It supports a variety of functions including emotion, behavior, long-term memory, and olfaction.Emotional life is largely housed in the limbic system, and it critically aids the formation of memories.
Olfactory Epithelium: The olfactory cortex is vital for the processing and perception of odor. It is located in the temporal lobe of the brain, which is involved in organizing sensory input. The olfactory cortex is also a component of the limbic system. This system is involved in the processing of our emotions, survival instincts, and memory formation.
CONNECTION Scent works in the opposite direction of other senses. With sight, sound and taste, we identify the information first and then react emotionally. With scents, we have an emotional reaction first and then identify the scent shortly thereafter.Connection is essential for human existence. The word Perfume comes from the Latin word Perfumare and it means to smoke through.
